JLP+D supported the development of the Science Park and Research Campus (SPARC) Kips Bay Master Plan, helping to unlock market value for a first-of-its-kind jobs and education innovation hub in New York City. SPARC will transform Hunter College Brookdale Campus, an entire city block, with over 1.5 million square feet of academic, public health, and life sciences space, more than doubling the life sciences footprint in Kips Bay. It will also rebuild infrastructure, connecting the campus to the East River and Manhattan Waterfront Greenway. On the campus, multiple agencies and institutions will manage state-of-the-art life sciences space, an ambulatory care center, health care training simulation centers, and a public high school with a health and science focus. JLP+D provided market and placemaking recommendations to help direct short- and long-term investments to help the campus and burgeoning life sciences District become a world class, competitive, and compelling home for the life sciences and its global workforce. The recommendations centered on the relationship between the campus to a larger district and how the success of both are intertwined.
